to the direction the topic is going but who has hardwired their Sat Nav power supply in? If anyone. A bit of a PITA with all the wires dangling around even with a cigarette lighter adaptor to prevent the problem of the plug getting in the way of 5th gear.

I fitted a 12v socket inside my glovebox, and piggybacked the power from the 12v socket on the centre dash.
I already have 2x 20A 12V sockets on the undercubby for HD power requirements The glovebox one is discreet, so I can charge phones, satnavs etc with the lid closed. |

Garmin 1490t
I like it a lot. Hardwired behind the dash and mounted with a Brodit clip above the passenger vent. Great unit with a Freeview TV tuner and nice wide screen. Looks totally discrete with no wires showing. It also accepts a camera for rear view or keeping an eye on the kids. Wide screen with lane assist. Good sound. Fast calculation times. |

I have Tom Tom Go 940 Live which is about 4 years old and was top of the range when new. It came with US and European maps which I have used as well as adding Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Had to add a memory card to get them all to fit though.
The traffic updates have saved my bacon more than a few times. It was playing up and rebooting all the time over the last few months and I have been eyeing replacements but it seems to have stabilised of late so going to hang it out a little longer. I have it hard wired in which is one of the reasons I am reluctant to change - all of the new ones use a different connector. |

I hard wired in my TomTom Golive. Looks a tidier installation rather than having charging cables everywhere, plus it is a doddle to do.

When running the cable down the back is there a gap that the cable can fit though? I.e. so it's not crushed between anything. ____\We|Will|Win/___
