Supacat,
Combined with your air-conditioning (and heated seats presumably being an XS) by the time your conkers first sense the rising heat from your seats your windscreen will be crystal clear and ready to go....if not before.... ![]() ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

![]() yeah but I'm coming from a RRS with remote timed climate, so I just had to press the fob in the house 15 mins before I was due to leave to have that all done for me before I even left the house! |

Hello All, Bit the bullet and had a heated windscreen fitted, was going to buy all the bits and have a go doing it myself but for a few pennies more got it fitted by Lloyd Specialist Development in Warminster.
Excellent service and very friendly bunch, looks like I will be testing it tomorrow morning according to the weather man. ![]() |

Hi Bpman, thanks for the welcome, I basically was looking around for someone to fit the windscreen and come across a couple of web sites Lloyds was one of them, basically they are into modifications for cars. For example they had a 1954 Beetle on site when I popped down and they was modifying it for better fuel consumption!!!
So they are not restricted themselves to Land rover, but believe me they know there stuff about Land rovers and the guys are more than happy to help, as I was their I asked them to help with some electrics problem on the Landy and they sorted it for me. well chuffed. |

Even with the improved de-misting abilities of the heating system, the heated screen always seems to be quicker - So full marks for performance.
However, does anybody else find that the rear lights of the car in front, or the headlight beams of oncoming cars, bounce off the screen elements & distort vision when driving at night ? This effect seems to be exacerbated when its raining...Just as well that we haven't had much this year!! Also, bright sunlight hitting the screen at a low/shallow angle seems to light up the elements like a christmas tree. Just my tuppence worth. ![]() |

Thanks K9F.
My 110XS has dark Gangsta-style window tinting (down to the previous owner, but it does suit the silver bodywork), so I'm familiar with reflections on the window surfaces, but thats not what I'm on about. I referring to visual distortion caused by the front/rear lights of other vehicles or sunlight bouncing off the heated windscreens internal elements? '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci |

Sorry Pumaxs,
Yes! I found the same! Having never had a heated screen in any other vehicle, when I got my Defender I initially found the distortion you describe from oncoming vehicle lights as quite disconcerting! As time wore on you just get accustomed to the extra glare but the benefit on a harsh frosty morning far outweigh that drawback. A mate of mine many years ago had a Ford Orion Ghia with a heated screen and screen development has come a long way as in that vehicle at night with oncoming traffic a pair of sunglasses wouldn't have been amiss it was so bad!!!! ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
