Great bit of kit - should be standard safety kit on all windscreens.

Our full kit with switch only allows the screen to work with the engine running ![]() Last edited by mobilecentre on 19th Oct 2012 9:57pm. Edited 1 time in total |

That is correct. And it switches off automatically after about 7 mins. This is as described in my handbook. I do get paranoid off-roading. Hope to fit a police anti riot style gauze visor soon (also for the back window) Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |

HFW and HRW normally pick up a feed off the oil pressure so they only come on when the engine is running. Cheers

So no way of configuring it to work as a poor man's park heat for demisting/clearing the windscreen on cold winter mornings? |

The short answer is yes as you could use of of our internal / externmal temp guages to trigger the screen the issue would be discharging your battery without the engine running ![]() |

I bought one from porny on here a few years ago, but I only got around to wiring it up recently so haven't tried it yet. But I did get the full wiring kit from mobile centre (forum sponsors) which included everything, relay, timer, wiring etc. Fitted it to a carling switch on my mud console in my 300tdi. Though MC do supply a kit with a dash TD5 switch.
Mines wired to ignition so I dont need the engine running (dont want to annoy neighbours with my loud engine in the early mornings) but im not sure how fast this would drain the battery? Ive purchased a 12v battery monitor (£5 ebay) so I can keep an eye on the battery when the screen is switched on... ![]() Looking forward to winter mornings now.. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

Got my new windscreen and just about to fit it, the label says defender 1985 to 2003 !
It's well wrapped up and just before I strip it does anyone know for sure if the 2003 windscreen is the same as 2006 ? |

I have the heated screen in my Defender and it works pretty damn quick anyway, so by the time I've got myself sorted, iPhone plugged in and in holder, seatbelt, gloves, glasses on it is pretty much ready to drive!
