The panel should have a foam seal around the edge of the underside.
It’s often damaged or twisted. It’s amazing how much noise a good seal prevents entering the cab.. and as you suggest stops water ingress. I’m not sure but think the wiring connector may have been for when an Amp was fitted by LR. They secured them to the back of the cubby box |

Thanks @clemmo -
there was indeed a foam seal and in surprisingly good shape too so I’ll be leaving that one as is! The connection for amp makes sense. I’ve scoured the electrical library and it didn’t jump out so I’ll with that for now. Will test for voltage when radio is on etc as my plan was to use as a retrofit usb (power) connection in the new cubby Thanks again |

IIRC there is a plug in active subwoofer for that, if you have the wiring there, it’ll plug straight in.

Thanks. I doubt I’ll use it for a sub - it’s more likely that I’ll work out if it’s possible to run a usb socket from it so I can charge a phone while it’s in the cubby and remove the temptation to be distracted by it!! 😬
Another thing on the list though…. |

In the interest of trying to improve the documentation, does anyone know the connector number?
The closest I can find is https://www.lrworkshop.com/connectors/defender-2012-2.2tdci/C1354 with similar wiring colours LR Workshop New parts illustrations https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...ed-corners Find a Defender's history and spec: https://defender.lrworkshop.com |
