I've always gone for the LR extended warranty on this and previous LRs. Be careful to choose the Extended full warranty and not the Select version which is designed for higher mileage LRs and doesn't cover everything in the "Full Fat" one. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

Easy decision, go for the full Land Rover warranty, the others are cheaper because they do not cover as much, especially the labour charge.

Never run a modern vehicle without full warranty.

Given itās a JLR product Iāve gone full warranty with LR Assist. Usefully, thereās a 0% APR monthly payment option if you donāt want to shell out the full amount up front.
Some say itās an expensive way to pay for repairs that may never be needed so they self insure by putting away an equivalent sum annually in an instant access savings account or even Premium Bonds. 23.5MY 90 V8 Carpathian grey |

Iāve gone on a wing and a prayer! My car will be 5yr old in January, 37k miles so far. Only issues have been the headlamps and a parking sensor. If I had been extended warranted then they would have just replaced them and LR parts would be quids in!
As it happened, I argued with LR for a contribution on the first one, which ended up with an 80% parts contribution. This bill came to Ā£700. Second headlamp I got repaired by an independent at Ā£300. So Iāve spent Ā£1000 in repairs in 3 years out of warranty (provided it doesnāt break before January) How much would that have cost in warranty premiums? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |

I would be weary of what this insurance covers especially 3rd party. Landrover probably your better bet at least you can get feedback from people here.
Normally with insurance you cover the losses you cannot carry, but with these insurances it's those losses they don't cover sooo |

After year 3 I have gone for the LR extended warranty. Itās expensive but a single repair could cost the premium easily. Of course sods law has meant that having it has ensured nothing major has gone wrong.
It runs out in a few months when the car is 5 years old so I will be into the wilderness of no cover. |

We decided after four years its enough. They charge 3800CHF, roughly 3700Pounds for a year of JLR extended.
I am interested in pricing, is it the same approximately in the UK and over Europe? |

No, that is very expensive my year 4 warranty is due in 6 months so I will know then. The warranty on my previous car 2 years ago was £1395 for 12 months.
Be careful with any warranties from another company as they often do not pay the full Land Rover labour charge which can be very expensive and the owner has to pay the shortfall to the garage Regards Jonathan. |

Just to add into the thinking, keep in mind that if you go with the LR Extended warranty and the combined breakdown cover you get the advantage of having LR Assist to call upon. I have called on them 6 times over the last 15 years across 2 different vechicles and they have always been amazing and very knowledgeable.
Depending on how long you intend to keep your vehicle the older it gets the more likely the need for their support. Just this last year I have had them out to our 9 year old Disco4 two times, one of those times it was a terminal failure travelling down the M5 to Cornwall. LR Assist were brilliant as they ended up putting us all (including the Labrador) into a hotel, then the next morning arranging an Uber to take me to a main dealer to collect a LR Assist loan car which under the plan you get to keep until yours is repaired. Meanwhile the D4 was taken all the way back to North Yorks and delivered to my chosen dealer for repair. The incident alone and replacement car so that we could continue the trip justified this years premium, then on top of that the repair cost was also covered. So in summary it's not just the parts and labour to think about, the piece of mind of LR Assist needs also to be factored into your thinking. Proud owner 110 Utility XS Ex RR Sport HST V8 Ex Td5 90 |

Cheers for the reply. I joined yesterday and posted up my current situation. I have a 2022 (29/06/22) Defender I purchased new. About a month after the warranty expired we received a letter advising us to book a free DO42 upgrade to the software which controls the DCDC converter. I called the number and selected a home fix. We waited for the call to book it. Then the cyber attack happened so we just waited. We missed a call a couple of weeks ago and called them backā¦after 1.5 hrs the wife gave up.
Anyway 11 days ago the fault message ācharging system fault detectedā came up. I called my dealer and they confirmed it was likely the update was needed. They booked me in for the 24/10/25 8 days later. Well it escalated quickly resulting in the car being AA recovered from home to the dealer 30 miles away on a Sunday, that was a week ago today. No car all week. Itās hopefully being fixed tomorrow as parts coming inā¦.diagnosis DCDC converter resulting in consequential damage to 12 V battery. Total cost just under Ā£2k with a contribution of 80% by JLR. Not had a car for 10 days and counting. Car 3 yrs and 3.5 months old! Does the JLR extended warranty give a replacement vehicle or do you get a hire car allowance. The site is absolutely shocking in its poor grammar and lack of detail. It actually says āreimbursement for hire carsā which suggest even with a warranty you have to pay up front? |
