Any company would look for free or low cost loans to prop up their balance sheet and serve their share holders. Capitalism for the Profits and Socialism for the Losses. Maybe public opinion could sway them otherwise, but even that will be calculated ethics |

Not sure if I'm allowed to post YT links so I won't but Mark MCann has done a video recently and managed to find the people behind the IT issue. Very revealing. 110 D250 SE HT

Subscription Updates.
For anyone in the same boat, the Connected Navigation Pro (£90) cannot be renewed at present as this was also affected by the cyber attack. Basically the system does not allow payment and so LR are allowing it to continue for free..................or until they can take payment again. The 'Chat' option on their website does not work (no loss) but the telephone team member was very helpful. |

I was beaten to it. I don't think he made this up for views, he seems to honest with his videos and he does seem to have contacts on the darker side of life.
Interesting for the hacker group to retire after this job. Plus if as they say in the vid, that JLR were told that theyd been hacked in that zoom meeting then they sort of deserve all they're getting. But why aren't TATA stumping up bailout money? Why is it the tax payer fronting it again? 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

The new inverter for my Defender arrived with the dealer today, which is good news. They said parts are starting to come through.

The tax payer isn’t paying, it’s a government loan. The government will borrow the money, lend to JLR at a higher rate than they pay, and then make a bit of profit off the gap in interest. Essentially, it’s easy, safe income for the government. JLR getting a loan is actually beneficial to the tax payer, not costing them.

JLR parent company TATA also mandated JLR use TCS (TATA Consulting Services) to maintain and look after the security of their SAP systems for one.
And having first hand experience with dealing with TCS and similar outfits from that continent, the skill level ratio is 1000 indians to one chief. The majority of the workforce are low paid juniors with very very little real world experience, so this come as NO surprise to me. If the claim is true that the hackers announced their presence already in April, it would have taken weeks for that message to flow down the chain for investigation. 100 juniors would have no idea what to even look for. M&S also uses TCS (from what I read) and hackers likely used the same method to gain access. TCS should have had a code red by then already for ALL their customers on SAP. I for one wish the UK government had the balls to hold TCS to account for their part in this. TATA's own silence on this speaks volumes. |

Just a reminder that Tata Motors has a $28bn USD market cap and Tata Consultancy has a $118 BILLION USD market cap. There is no reason whatsoever that the UK taxpayers should be assuming the risk on this cyber attack. Doing so just incentivizes further lax security practices and indeed, further cyber attacks since it then becomes a matter of becoming a "victimless crime" courtesy of the tax payer. Instead of spending all that money on guaranteed loans, perhaps taking those resources and pouring them into the investigation and prosecution of those responsible would be a better long-term solution to the problem of corporate ransom. You guys used to hang pirates at the entrance to every port of call in the new world. Seems like that would be a better strategy... Anyways - apologies for getting too far off topic. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package 2003 Hummer H1 P400 Firehouse Red 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser |
