Its not the “switch” mechanism. The cable encountered some resistance and got bent. You need to straighten it. That is your issue. Also press the spring lock washer thingy down tight (the wheel looking thing)

Thanks, I’ll see what I can do. When it’s not attached it sits straight. I guess I might just need a new cable. I’ll check the washer too

The cable looks to be a stranded type wire, the control cable should be a solid cable - which is probably why the cable in the picture is bending as it slides into the cable tube. 1999 Defender TD5 110

When I replaced mine, I got some 3 in 1 oil and lubed the control cable before fitting - I think it helped with the sliding action of the cable. 1999 Defender TD5 110

My fan control cable arrived. It does not have a fitting on the end to slide onto the pin located on the switch. What’s the best way to make that happen?

I believe that it is possible you may have purchased the incorrect cable. Should be part number AAP876 which is a solid wire sheathed cable. The one you had on it that was bent was JFF000140 and that was for later VIN models.
Item number 3 in the parts diagram 👇🏻https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/3.55717.55994.56945/brand/land-rover/ You should confirm this first. Its is possible may have procured cables for the heater temperature controller and vents. These have no eye on the ends. I believe I had led you astray 🤦🏼♂️ my apologies 🙄 Alternatively you can bend a loop on one end and then press on the lock washer to set it in place. This is what the eye end looks like on the correct cable. 👇🏻 ![]() Click image to enlarge Good luck. 2020 range Rover Mk IV Autobiography PHEV 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris) 2003 Range Rover Mk III (Desmond FitzWilliam) 2000 Defender 110 CSW TD5 (CTX) 1992 Range Rover Classic (Lizzy) 1972 Series III 300 Tdi (Stanwood) 1967 MGB GT Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.
