Its hard to recommend because it's so specific to your personal circumstances, but you could try Howdens (was A-Plan) Thatcham office or the NFU.
Buy Land Rover Monthly and just spend an hour or two ringing round the ones in the back of there. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

The best deal for me with my 2.2 110 was Howdens and last year was Adrian Flux. And that’s with a fair number of mods that I always declare. Les than 25% of your quote

l know, l have no idea as to why it's so high. l tried upgrading the security devices on the quote to a CAT 1 alarm and tracker but it made no difference.

Might be something as simple as multiple claims in your postcode area?
In all fairness, does anyone actually understand the reasoning behind some quotes? I feel your pain ![]() |

Direct Line won't cover at all.

The problem appears to be, on the V5 it's classed as a Commercial Vehicle. So it asks you if it's a "car" or a "van".
lf you put "car" you get the above. lf you put "van" you get the following. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

You might have more luck with a broker like Howdens then, so you can speak to an actual human and explain the situation. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Call both Adrian flux and Howdens, because defenders are slightly different to standard vehicles the quote software just can’t handle it and spits out stupid quotes.
I found talking to both those companies resulted in reasonable quotes |

I insured a 2013 CSW with Admiral this year for £350 full comp and protected no claims.

Another vote for Admiral. £316 fully comp, protected etc for a 2016 110 XS SW. Even the dealer recommended them when we bought the Disco Sport earlier this year.
That price does include the multi-care discount which is worthwhile too. |

Yes, I had the same problem when trying to insure my 61 plate 110 station wagon. It’s very annoying but JLR registered all 2012-on Defenders are classed as N1 for tax purposes However, they are classed as a dual purpose vehicles which means they have the same speed limits as cars, not vans. There’s a fair few threads on here about the subject. I found the only insurance ‘supermarket’ website that would work for me was Confused.com. All the others had “computer says no” moments and classed it as a van. In the end I got the best quote from Aviva with some cash back via Quidco or TopCashback (can’t remember which). |
