Guernsey 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Rimini Red
Leaks, Leaks everywhere!
Well this is my first winter owning a defender, and it seems to be more like a paddling pool at the moment. Its a 2007 puma 90 (which i must admit, didn't think leaks would be as much of an issue in) and the passenger footwell is constantly damp in the weather we've had, seem to have found the problem being a poorly fitted windscreen at the local autoglass certified specialist (in Guernsey, so not actually autoglass) which is being sorted as it was a windscreen insurance claim.

Gave a few friends a lift yesterday and they noticed the carpet beside the back seats were absolutely soaking, having looked in the rain, water is streaming out from under the plastic below the windows, a lot of the way along. looks like its coming from between the window and bodywork. Must admit, as much as i love the car, the fact its not exactly watertight is starting to get a little annoying.

My question is, how many other places should i check for leaks before taking it to the garage to have the rear windows sorted? i take it there's going to be several more areas to look at, but not sure i'd notice them all. may as well try and sort the lot at once.

thanks Thumbs Up

So after some heavy rain last night and despite most of the car being under a carport the 110 had some water in the passenger footwell. Not the first time and only happens if the rain is particularly heavy so its been low priority.
I was thinking as one of the actions to minimise this I would try and keep the water from getting in the engine bay near the wing joint to the Bulkhead. I notice on the drivers side there is a little rubber strip to keep water away from the ABS block. Does anyone know the part number of name of this so I can get one to put on the passenger side also? 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

Is this the rubber strip you are looking for:

Just had to get a replacement one as mine went missing, they do not hold too well without additional help. I struggled to get one any cheaper.

Mine had those strips on, but I also cut a piece of old mudflap and placed/jammed in over the top of the ABS unit. It’s keep it dry.

I have come to the conclusion that if you like older cars you need a garage (multiple car garage obviously). Apart from protection from weather exposure it also makes working on them much much easier.

I know that this is not much advise to anyone that simply does not have access to a garage, but maybe you can postpone owning a nice classic till you have access to a garage to avoid the frustration. Modern-ish cars are much better standing outside in the rain.

Anyone got a pic of this front wing seal installed? Either factory or a DIY solution.
