Nylock nuts often get very tight over time, so realy big breaker bar and some angle plate with holes tightened to the propshaft flange and jammed to the ground should help. Holding it just by the gearbox is not the bets idea.

Oh ya, if I use an angle plate, do I need to engage the diff lock, put it in 1st gear, and release the handbrake too?

Also using some heat on the nylock nut softens the plastic inside and make it simpler to remove, but you have to be carefull for thing around. I use small propan torch for this. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

I think you can also put the hand brake drum back on, tighten the prop nuts back on (you might need a stack of washers) without the prop shaft, pull the hand brake and undo the nut with a large breaker bar. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

@ Dinnu - Ok, I’ll combine all the techniques here and try to undo it. Just waiting for my 24" breaker bar and felt washer to arrive. Laughing thank you
