There have been several threads relating to oil filter housing damage one assumes attributed to poor fitment or possibly impact damage.
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic5004.h...p;start=15 http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic2470.html?highlight=housing Following on from the stainless intercooler grille replacement that me and a fabricator from work came up with we got our heads together again and whilst nothing can be done to prevent brute force whilst fitting, there is something that can be done to prevent potential damage from impact. I am gauging interest to see if there would be any 'takers' that may be interested prior to a final costing and going into production. Price would be reflected in the numbers but would imagine it would be ballpark £45..... The cover would be milled from aluminium having 6mm thickness at the base and 8mm on the sides. It could be anodized or powder coated but would bump the price up or 'au natural' dependant on opinion. The cover is intended to be placed over the hexagon shaped boss at the base of the filter housing. It will be held in position by the sprung catches on the two opposing flats of the hexagonal boss and even the flange at the top of the filter would be covered. Ear tiz.....Anyone interested? Karlos,
That's 5mm galvanised steel and available for the princely sum of £150 on their website. Only a couple of hours work for you! Just shell out....you know you want to. Look good powdercoated....bling bling! Can't possibly filch their design.....not the decent thing to do!!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Karlos, it is listed as available "Land Rover 90, 110 Puma 2007 on"..... http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/acatalog/TRANSMISSION_GUARDS.html With potential products a PDF drawing has quite often to be made which can take considerable time in itself if work has to be farmed out (like water cutting etc.) so a one off isn't cost effective. The fabricator I use is both talented and naturally a 'metal enthusiast' who takes great pride in what he does. He likes Land Rovers too. if you want something he will 'give it a go.' If indeed there is something that isn't available, is a good idea and there is a number of people who want one give me a shout, the more there are, the cheaper it will be! The roof rack he made for his own vehicle is a sight to behold....It's a shed of a vehicle and the rack has been welded and bolted straight on....through the headlining as well! Maybe that is the equivalent of a builder's house looking like a building site? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Hi Fekete
I have a TD5 90 with the mid pipe replaced with a straight through pipe. Part of the issue why the full belly plate does not fit the TD5 or Puma is the silencer box. I did not like the TD5 version so bought that version from Extreme, i did not use the rear bracket as it makes the rear of skid plate site lower. I then bought some 150mm galv angle plates from screw fix and bolted to the chassis, i used a 10mm thick ali bar to make a new rear support. This has been strong enough to jack on If you would like some pictures please pm me your email address Karl. Mark |
