I don't know to be honest, I don't have a wiring diagram for the ddci, I was just offering a possible cause and suggesting that sometimes, serious sounding faults can often have a simple cause and remedy.

No joy yet, not had any time to have a closer look into it, I'm convinced like others have mentioned it's something to do with something worn, as I know there is some backlash in the transission which LR say is within accpectable tolerances, also read stories of the infamous intermediate transfer shaft giving up the ghost, though don't want to find out the hard way as others have, I'm currently under extended warranty with LR so will point out my worries to them again down at the dealers and to fair to them they have been excellent over the years, it has done it quite a few times in the last week, always from standing still then pulling away which you can feel the slack take up somewhere then the crunch and TC light, then is all fine.

Cheers

Intermediate shaft splines worn?
When I would select 1st and pull off I would have a grinding noise. I would only have the same noise when I selected reverse and spun the shaft the other way. As time went on, this got much worse where any forward gear after a change would grind and you would feel it. Eventually it went completely - no drive.
Just something to think about.

Hello Simon,

Eventually when yours went completely, and you lost drive what was the problem, and resolution ?

Thanks

I had this a few times, same situation but very intermittent, over course of last few months.

Intermediate shaft gave up a few days ago... if you've not had the shaft checked then I'd recommend doing so.

Hello,

Reviving this old post but this morning I had the exact same problem, Whenever I'd pull away from second gear or first it happens, Took it to a LR specialist and he hooked up a OBD2 scanner and just to look at the live data from the speed sensors of all four wheels, 3 of them showed the same speed from pulling away except one which was stuck on 1, he just tapped the speed sensor a bit and it got fixed!

Now when pulling away there isn't any noise and no flashes, hope this helps anyone who has the same problem. 2014 Defender LXV

Thanks all
Little spanner and tapped both sensors and no more traction control issues.

It's bloody mucky down there. What's best to clean around the swivel pin?

Cheers

Now that you have resolved it for the moment, it’s with checking to make sure the end of the front half shafts/cvs are shimmed correctly, if they are too sloppy you’ll find the issue will return.
