Well I've just been to the shops and there is a railway crossing that crosses the road at an angle and is quite undulating.. it certainly felt better over that, less wobble... normal steering feels pretty much the same.. but there is less post bump tremor.. oh... and it looks pretty Cool 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

Well... I've been away for a week tiling a friends floor and other things so today when I got home I got Alan out of the garage and set about fitting the EGT/boost gauge and probes..
Went ok which is a worry Wink
Had a quick blast up a hill near me and got the EGT upto about 490.. boost is standard, 12ish.. Psi. The boost gauge is better than the one I took out as it doesn't tick at idle.. My battery was nearly flat but got it started after some slow turning... The fan belt makes a racket when I first set off after being sat for a while, is this normal? Also should there be a stud in the manifold in the bottom hole at the front of the engine as there isn't one.... Shocked
Anyway here's a couple of quick pics..

Neat little job that! great upgrade there Thumbs Up Id have to have a look at my dads 200 when he starts faffing about with the clutch,
For your battery side of things, i have used one of these for the past few years on my metro, and it has made its way on my defender Thumbs Up cheep and cheerful and saves the battery, ( it did save the metro from been stolen too!) I am thinking on doing something more though i think at some point

Cheers.. I used to have one of those on the mini.. I will have a think about it as I have a tracker that is on a permanent live from the aux fuse box ...

Made a start with the springs today.. 1 down 3 to go... Rolling Eyes
It wasn't too bad. Removed the ARB and noticed one of the rubber bits is split so I've ordered a new one and I had to remove the damper as I couldn't get the axle to drop enough.. and those Bilsteins are hard for little old me to get back on.. anyway.. I gave the upper and lower spring seats a coat of Dinitrol, re-used the bolts but replaced the nyloc nuts with new. I've am fitting the springs with the rubber isolating spring thingy me bobs..
Old and new...

bit of a wipe and some Dinitrol..

All done now.. Also tightened the squealing belt and replaced the washer squirter that had packed up.
Drives Fantastic.. much much better. The pillow speed bumps are no longer crashy and nasty and potholes are much less noticeable.. Ride height only altered slightly as I put the rubber isolators in front and back.

Thank you...I don't know about tripods.. the photo's are deceiving, it's dropped 2cms at the back and 4 cms at the front so not as much as it looks in those pics.. it does sit slightly nose down now... 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

Can you take a pic of the whole dash please, is the LED read out on the boost/EGT gauge distracting at night at all?

I'm toying with the idea of the group buy for the Alive comfort suspension package, so you think its definitely worth it? 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Hi Kit..

I didn't get the Alive comfort kit, it was out of stock and the springs weren't sided. I went with Urban springs, Grafty has them albeit from IRB. I bought my Bilsteins from Flatdog, I don't know how much difference the Alive valving makes to handling compared to standard Bilsteins.
I will take a pic of the dash.. I haven't been out at night yet and there is a window in the garage so it isn't dark. But I will have a go. I will be interested to see what temperatures your Tdi runs at in comparison. 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

Oh I also fitted the Discovery rubber spring isolators all round but just the top and the rubbery snake ones on the bottom at the back.. I had read in posts they also help.. After a 20 minute drive I noticed an immediate improvement over what I had, it will suit my usage as I won't be going off road. Obviously I need a longer road test to fully assess the benefits but initial impressions are good.. I was worried it might be awful and I'd have to do it all again... Laughing 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

I'll follow how you get on with them then, as i'm slowly coming around to the idea that I won't be fitting 33" mud terrains to my 90 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Here's some pics of the dash.. I blacked out the window as best as I could..
I also noticed the EGT Leds light up with the ignition on but the gauge only lights up when it senses the low light level..it doesn't have a connection to the vehicle lights. As you know it was expensive, not helped by getting stung for £70 import tax.. I had looked at a combined Spa gauge but equally expensive and both readouts were digital and I wanted to be as close to Oem look as I could. Its probably cheaper to get 2 separate gauges but them you have to mount them somewhere.
