Whilst the thin 'Sawtooths' may be unlikely to fail, and yes they might be better/stronger then the original Sawtooths which I personally doubt.

There are a few issues here. One lack of technical detail offered by the wheel sellers.

IF the thin 'Sawtooths' are stronger why are they not saying something to the effect of 10% lighter but 10% higher load rating?

I would guess that the thin 'Sawtooths' are lighter as a cost saving measure rather then anything else.

Also they are doing what is known as 'PASSING OFF' or producing a cheaper version/copy and trading on the brand name of the genuine Sawtooths.

What testing/approval are on the thin 'Sawtooths'? You only need one non genuine thin 'Sawtooth' to fail catastrophicly a few people killed and the trade name/reputation of the genuine Sawtooths goes down the pan.

Britpart has confirmed with me that their sawtooths are rated at 1000kg and have the JWL standard (Japan light wheel alloy) both these are cast into the wheel on the inside of the wheel as well.

Note that the JWL mark is self-certified by the manufacturer and does not necessarily mean it has been tested independently. The Japanese official do test some wheels with JWL marks but they don't test all of them.

I wonder if I've missed something but has anyone got evidence that the "dangerous" wheels have actually failed on a vehicle? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Yea, and I don't think we know where we can buy these dangerous wheels as well because the ones mentioned (Bearmach and Britpart) both seem to be the "thick" type.

I think it is quite possible that there might be some small sellers sourcing directly from a Chinese or similar factory with sub-standard products and I have seen cheap wheels from TaoBao (Chinese ebay) fail. But I personally think pattern wheels from Bearmach and Britpart should be ok, for a supplier that size, there is a real legal risk if they supply dangerous wheels and for the sake of the revenue from one wheel style, I just wouldn't sell it if I were they...

should also add, not caused by driver abuse.TBH,no supplier provides details of where their get their parts from which boils my pi55, you just don't know what you are buying, not talking about wheels either, oil filters, cv joints, halfshafts, etc.(in the interest of honesty LRS Wink ),I'm always cautious where I buy parts from coz there is so much crap out there.
At the same time I've saved a good few quid buying a Wabco ABS pump VIA BRITPART,saving me a £1000,Britpart sell GENUINE Blindo alloys,so there Ner Ner .
Also genuine Boost alloys are only rated at 850kg's,if aftermarket alloys are rated at a 1000kg does that make genuine Boost alloys dangerous? Finally, Jaguar x-type owners have had issue's with original fit Aruba alloys cracking.....so much for oem then. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
