Trust the dealer more and the indi I was using wasn't any cheaper really.
I don't trust many of the local garages frankly and the main dealer maybe a bit more expensive but if something is screwed up or not done correctly and has to go back it'll be a damn site worse.

Still waiting, seems I've been told the end of this coming week / into next week. A wait of 14 days plus!
Cannot say I'm overly impressed with LR, especially as we've got no transport and have had a family bereavement and we're left with nothing.

I know its a bit different for me as been in the trade for 30 yrs and dad was before me with own business, but can not see how they get away with it , when we got too busy we would do a few evenings or work the weekend to get on top of work load , my dad used to say "lets make hay while the sun shines"

we had a cabstar type pick up in while ago , customers work vehicle they needed it for work etc main dealer wanted the car for 4 weeks to a clutch and flywheel
I put it on mot ramp (no mot slot booked ) had a quick look , looked easy said right 2 mechanic,s jump on it get it done , 35 mins start to finsh hence the main dealer has lost a customer and we have gained one

if they that busy offer overtime !

my dad always paid mechanics for what they done not time worked that made them get on with the job instead of talking ( bit easier to pay like that years ago )

my advice find a indepentant possibliy family run , someone recommened ,been in business for good few years and look at they workshop and see what knowledge of the car they have , and turn up when they half way though the job and have a look

specialists can be best , but a lot seem to think its ok to charge main dealer prices , specialists should earn they money by doing the job faster with having the knowledge of how to do the job and having the right tools to hand , not by charging the same rates as dealer
charge same amount of hours , but at cheaper rate for the job do more work and get more money and happy customers

I'm with munch on this, some jobs can be put off if the customer has a spare car etc and if it were an Indy who worked alone you could understand the wait but at a dealer that is terrible! I

When she is back in the office I will be onto the customer relations manager....
I got put through once to the parts dept and the bloke on the end of the phone was sighing. Rolling Eyes
I wanted to explain about the gearbox output shaft greasing (to be checked)
Again a sigh, as it seemed to be such an effort + I swear he didn't know what I was on about because he wasn't actually a mechanic.. Rolling Eyes

Also I'm told on the LR system there is no Service History yet it was bought new from Stratstone Swansea, then serviced there for a while...
Then sold as approved used by Matford, Exeter where I bought it from...
Yet no SH? I have the hard copy though....
It has always been serviced by main dealers and the last service was by a LR qualified and approved Indipendant.
I hired a van just for transport, which from VansGB was great despite the cost.
They even picked me up from home and back again due to the circumstances which is more than I can say for LR.
When I get the bill I will then make my move!

I'm not going to defender the dealer here in any way, because under the circumstances I don't feel as though you've had the best treatment here Steve.

However, dealers are very busy at this time of year due to the large volume of PDI work going through for the new 64 plate reg going in tomorrow. Also, it's not uncommon for them to be fully booked for at least 2 weeks in advance...

Oh, and don't be under the illusion that overtime doesn't happen in dealerships, trust me!! Yawn Yawn An engine to TDi for!

Steve have you had any experience with matford after sales? Curious because I'm picking up mine in October but obviously the sales personal are your best friends until they've taken your money. As a mechanic myself I am tempted to service it myself but then the other side of me says get the first three services done at the main dealer so I don't miss any software updates.

I don't have to back with mine as it went out of warranty.
Never had a problem to have to though!
When I purchased they even brought it to me to have a look at FOC some 150 mile round trip and again to me once bought so I never even had to go down there.
I did buy a set of new number plates from them too early this year and that worked out very well and posted too.
I'd give them a good 9/10.

Ok thank you. Its around 60 miles from my house but Guy Salmon were so arrogant when I went to book a test drive I wont go back there. Probably because I'm 23 and thought he cant afford anything in here.

The receptionist was lovely even offered me a drink whilst the salesman was on the phone, during this time a man in a nice suit came in, funnily enough the salesman finished his phone call and bolted straight to him, he only wanted a brochure Rolling with laughter and was then confused why I had walked out in disgust
