Or putting the car in access height in that situation wouldn’t ground it......... I would rather not have side steps when off-road having seen what happened to one of my neighbours Isuzu Trooper with them and she was driving across a field and hadn’t realised she had picked up a very heavy gauge piece of wire fence that caught on the side step and the next thing was she had a big hole in the floor of her nice new car.......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I’ll be adding side steps to mine, but then I’m considering just taking the 90 on coils.

South Africa 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Alpine White
Popped into my dealership to visit my new car yesterday, P400 HSE. Unfortunately I wont be able to take it home till Tuesday as they are still fitting the accessories I ordered.

According to the dealer he can’t get enough stock of the new Defender to meet the demand. So, in South Africa at least, it seems like the new model is a success!

Yep, it's flying off the shelves in ZA!

https://www.carmag.co.za/news/heres-how-ma...gust-2020/

"...official sales data from Naamsa, which shows 125 examples of the Defender were registered locally in August 2020. For the record, this represents nearly 40 percent of Jaguar Land Rover sales for the month.

That, of course, makes the Defender the British firm’s best-seller in August, with the Range Rover Sport (47), Evoque (46) and Discovery Sport (23) quite some way behind. Next for Land Rover SA was the Discovery (22), Velar (20) and Range Rover (10).

And the Defender’s rivals? Well, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (which will later in 2020 receive a new engine option) managed 66 units, while the Jeep Wrangler ended the month on 25 units. Mitsubishi’s Pajero (which is still available, with production set to end in 2021) finished on 14 registrations. A single Toyota FJ Cruiser was registered, too. ..." --

I envy the fact you can still get a SWB Pajero in South Africa. I would buy one in a heartbeat if Misubishi Australia brought them back.

Presumably that includes all the initial dealer demo models also, rather than actual retail sales?

It's interesting to see where the sales are in SA - it appears the the top selling vehicles in the month are all pickups:

Toyota Hilux - 3,613
Isuzu D Max - 1,670
Ford Ranger - 1,657

Is the Toyota Fortuner, a model I know nothing about, at 733 not a Defender competitor?

The Fortuner is basically a Hilux with a body, so it's not in the same segment as LR.

Most of them are bought by farmers for their wives Rolling with laughter

FYI, the original Fortuner had a tendency to roll on gravel roads, due to its suspension setup. Toyota vehemently denied it, but then released a facelift version with stability control Whistle --

What's a Toyota Land Cruiser PU? That sold 125 also.

Odd the Defender doesn't even make it onto this table which pulls from the same data source:

Perhaps the old 79 Land Cruiser that's still for sale in South Africa in Pick Up form?

Mines 10th October, looking forward to it. Not sure how it’s working with social distancing, because normally everybody is crawling over the cars at these events.

Timed appointment with viewings outside J. When mine goes in for various corrective treatments I have a timed check in appointment at Pentland Stirling with +/- 5 minutes - if you are early you sit out in the car until they call you into service reception in the showroom and last time I was in all the cars on the showroom floor were locked with windows closed to prevent you sitting in them. I would imagine with the C-19 situation in the Glasgow area the Taggarts outlets around town will be even stricter on viewings. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
