Adding Oil in diesel and why?
I've noticed a few talk on here about adding oil to the diesel, what are the benefits to this? And down sides? How many do it and for how long?
I guess it adds extra lubricant? 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

Not oil in general

think you mean 2 stroke oil

results seem to be
better emissions
less black smoke
goes better
smoother
quieter

So what 2 stroke do people recommend adding to a 2.4 and in what quantity?

Thanks!

A 2T low SAPS oil such as Castrol ACT<EVO, around 250-300ml per tank full of diesel. Thumbs Up I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

Years ago I switched to BP Ultimate, and that is clearly all I need. Since then my 2.4 Puma has much reduced diesel hammering compared with before when I used any supermarket fuel, EGR cleaning cycle very gentle 5 x chuka noise now. Just everything is actually smooth all over. Thumbs Up
According to my dealer, a Puma engine is designed to run on - preferably good - diesel fuel, and on nothing else than that. Whistle
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Well, any Royal Mail Transit cannot be driven w/o additional 2-strike-oil, can it?

And my postman assures, that only BP ultimate or another costly diesel is being filled in.

Screen wash goes in the...... Screen wash bottle.
Coolant goes in the...... Coolant bottle.
People sit in the..... Seats.
Luggage goes in the...... Boot.
Sheep go in the..... Sheep pen.

And the list goes on for all the things and places those things should go.

2 Stroke oil goes ????????????? No container!!!!!!!!! I cant imagine JLR have forgot to add a container for it if the car needs it for the engine to run ?
