Not the Lancaster but did see the vulcan fly past when I was at the tip this afternoon. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Glad you made it mk1collector.
Did you go to Ladybower or "park up" and walk over the moors to Derwent? Traffic was manic on the A57 (seen a picture on the BBMF twitter page). People just left there cars in the middle of the road and got out to look and take pictures as the Lancaster's were flying over! |

Crank up the speaker to MAX and watch this!
I spent most of today either queuing in traffic jams, or walking for miles to get this 30 second clip. We were treated to 3 flypasts by the Lancasters, a Spitfire and a Hurricane flew by earlier, and it was finished by a very low pass from an RAF Helicopter. A great day out, and a unique chance to see some history. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

We also saw them at the Lincoln Heritage when they flew in together and circled a number of times, never to be forgotten, nor repeated experience (very emotional experience as it turned out), cannot imagine what it was like when 20 or 30 of them flew out together on a bombing run over Europe in the sure knowledge they would not all be coming back
On a separate, however also historic thread, did any one make it to the York railway museum for the gathering of the 6 remaining A4's, also an unforgettable sight and one also unlikely to be repeated. Not sure why demonstrations of past British greatness stir such memories, however, I for one find them irresistible |
