2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black

Clutch again!

the clutch went the other night, so out with the old and in with the new........ I've bought a new AP clutch plate and cover and a new slave cylinder/release bearing. I need an alignment tool but I think 40 quid is expensive for a short bit of bar, does anyone have one they will measure for me so I can knock one up on the lathe? also is there anything else I should replace whilst the box is out? should I replace the spigot bearing? any tips and tricks for the swap? I've searched on here but cannot find what I'm looking for. thank you in advance, Harry NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

Make sure you got the LR037956 part an not any other. I would change the spigot bearing. Fill the space with grease and give it a punch with a round tool of the same diameter (soory about my Tarzanian english). The pressure will make the bearing to move from the flange. You may need to do it several times. I would not worry about the centering tool, just use your best "eye" to center the plate. Puma 110" SW

When aligning clutches I always use a 3/8 or 1/2" drive socket extension bar with a deep socket that is the best fit into the spigot. I use black tape round the socket to get a good tight but sliding fit and then again use black tape on the extension where it fits through the clutch plate to take up any gap.Aways worked for me even when having to handball the gearbox back into place without the aid of a jack when working in the field. Hope this helps!

I haven't got another genuine clutch, I've got a AP driveline - formerly Borg and Beck. these seem to have good reviews.

o dear. ive just had it out of the box and the springs are loose enough to turn

Don´t worry about the springs. All OEM clutches are made by AP (except one made by Britpart) and have been going through some mods (main springs, central damper, thrust washers, etc). The very latest is LR048731 and LR switched back again to the part number I mentioned before.

What is the part number you have got? Puma 110" SW

Hi the part number is LR012199G if you shake the plate the springs rattle like hell. I don't want to swap a flat tyre for a puncture, so im leaning towards this one LR037956. many thanks, Harry NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

That is a genuine one but outdated. Springs are meant to rattle on all Puma clutches. You can get the OEM LR037956 at half price from any shop online. Puma 110" SW
