Blanked connector under cubby box??
Hi all,

Only had the 90 for a few days (2013 2.2 hard top) so cleaning, tweaking, upgrading and learning (lots) as is go…

I’ve just removed the tatty cubby box ready to replace with a nicer unit and while cleaning it I noticed an unused connector that’s taped down.
Before I start trawling through the electrical diagrams (electrics is my Achilles heel), does anyone know what the standard use is for this?

And while I’m asking, the panel looks in ok condition but is there a need for better waterproofing as removing it is straight through to the open! Great for access to gearbox I’m sure (unlike my discovery 2!) but as I’m new to defenders I thought I ask…

Thanks all Confused

The panel should have a foam seal around the edge of the underside.
It’s often damaged or twisted.
It’s amazing how much noise a good seal prevents entering the cab.. and as you suggest stops water ingress.
I’m not sure but think the wiring connector may have been for when an Amp was fitted by LR.
They secured them to the back of the cubby box
Thumbs Up

Thanks @clemmo - Thumbs Up
there was indeed a foam seal and in surprisingly good shape too so I’ll be leaving that one as is!

The connection for amp makes sense. I’ve scoured the electrical library and it didn’t jump out so I’ll with that for now. Will test for voltage when radio is on etc as my plan was to use as a retrofit usb (power) connection in the new cubby

Thanks again

IIRC there is a plug in active subwoofer for that, if you have the wiring there, it’ll plug straight in.

If you wanted one of course.. ____\We|Will|Win/___

Thanks. I doubt I’ll use it for a sub - it’s more likely that I’ll work out if it’s possible to run a usb socket from it so I can charge a phone while it’s in the cubby and remove the temptation to be distracted by it!! 😬

Another thing on the list though….
