Lost interior light
My interior light has stopped working.

I can physically turn it on and all is ok

BUT

When I unlock the doors I get a quick flash from the light and that is it. No like it was when it remained on for a period of time. I also get no light when opening a door.

I have checked the fuses under the dash, but not the unseat fuses yet.

Any thoughts??

Door switches would be the next thing I'd check. They're notoriously susceptible to corrosion on the contact surfaces but it's a fairly easy fix (one screw to remove each one).

Good luck! Cheers,

Paul

That was my first go to. But they look ok. When I’ve had failed ones before, it has just been that the one individual door doesn’t work.

This time I’ve no lights.

Do the interior lights and switches go through the alarm controller? Mine's a 300tdi so it's pretty simple but the TD5 electronics might have an influence here? Sorry, I'm not going to be much more help here! Cheers,

Paul

I don’t think it is the door switches because if I set the alarm/use CL with a door open the horn gives two honks, as it acknowledges the door is open.

I’m thinking it may be a 10AS thing.

Just had a play. Still struggling with it

But.

Fiddling triggered the alarm to sound.

It’s now changed to a long HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNKKKKK

Not the normal HONK. HONK. HONK.

Does this information mean anything???

LEDs in the interior light(s) or filament bulbs?

10AS has a 20A fuse (fuse 7) and 15A fuse (fuse 6) under the seat that are worth a look.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

The lights are LED. NAK ones and fitted for 5-6 years.

All fuses in under dash and under seat have been checked.

Will double check them though

What fuses on under dash are relevant?

Don’t want to pull stereo one again. What a PITA.
