OIL LIGHT
Hi

my wife just rang to tell me for a brief moment our 2008 2.4 engine oil lamp came on , and the engine was making a funny noise? by the time she had coasted down to a mini round about oil lamp was off and engine running as normal ?

Any ideas?

Has she far to drive home?

I would suggest to top up some oil as soon as possible and then when home check when cold.

If she hasn't far (non motorways etc) I would suggest it should hopefully be ok? Oil however is much cheaper than if it runs out.

Keep an eye on the temp driving home, I have a ultra guage plugged in which does give a lot better (accurate readings) THe dashboard temp hardly moves according to the dial.

Hopefully all ok Thumbs Up

Check the level before it's driven anywhere. Cheers

possible a dodgy switch, just have her send you a photo of the oil level on the dipstick before topping up. If she is not knowledgeable, she may overfill the sump and start blowing seals.
