Scott,
I’m so sorry to see those photos, I was admiring it at the steam fair. Hopefully soon it will be back to its former beauty. Where did the accident happen? Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

The other party’s insurer cannot financially write off your car, only yours can do that. Your claim is against the other party (via their insurer), so be clear with your own insurer about that.

RFT, the accident was at an offset Cross roads, I was on the main road going straight ahead (30 mph zone) the transit was turning right, across my path.
At the time of impact I was probably doing around 20mph as I did 'lock' up and swirve to avoid but it was not enough ![]() ** Update ** My insurance (through Grove & Dean) have sent out an insurance assesor, I am pleased he was an 'old boy' not a twenty something in a tesla model 3 ![]() ![]() He seemed to understand the classic car status and the fact its 'more than just a car'. I appreciate they still have to work within the guidlines but we had a good chat and he seemed to suggest they may offer a 'pay out' whereby they pay me a price we agree and I go and get the car fixed. The car is currently in my workshop behind 2 locked sets of gates so its going nowhere quick ![]() Its getting fixed and staying with us any which way they want to do this. ![]() Thanks for the advice so far all ![]() |

Good update
![]() And great to hear. I’m sure you know… it’s common practice for them to make a low first offer. You don’t have to accept it and it’s quite acceptable for you to counter. Go back at least 25% higher…. With reasons why you believe the offer to be low. For sure… some embellishment may be required. They always come back with a stronger offer. They want it closed and off their books Good Luck Clemmo |

Hello
Yes, RFT, as we waited oposite sat on the bench for recovery we almost whitneesed half a dozen more accidents... Nothing to update yet I think I will put a request out for a wing as I need to start getting that sorted. From what I see you can buy the side panel and the front but not the top... |

Would you consider used?
More original, maybe better quality? Save your repair budget? Quick search shows https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/396880173846?_s...ondition=4 Clemmo |

Hello
More than happy with used as long as straight. I have been looking on marketplace & facebook. Some need a front and others a side so ive noticed as long as the top is straight. All good 👍 |

Slight update,
I have been away and while on holiday they e-mailed with an amount they are happy to agree on and I get the repairs done where I want (or indeed do it myself) So obviously following from the advice on here, I said thank you for the offer however (and this bit its true the assessor said to fit front springs also) and these were not on the estimate. So I have gone back with a quote to supply & fit 2 x front springs in addition to what they offered. Hopefully almost agreement, I have been fair with them and they are fair with me. I will source a second hand wing and have put no labour for sanding the parts and painting as that will be done my me (so it all matches) the rest of the car. Hopefully I will hear soon and will start ordering all the bits ![]() next update to follow... |

No update as yet,
Waiting for the final figure, but happy it will not be a write off or any sort of register, so that's great. I'm still unsure to get my local garage on the case or do it myself, certainly the chassis part will be much easier with a ramp. This weekend I did 180 mile round trip to collect a wing I have been on the look out for ages, correct side, and dint free ![]() Anyway the big brother 110 helping get supplies for the little 88 ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Then sunday afternoon started taking the bits off it and sanding down... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge So I will plod on and wait until I hear from insurance people, |

One should always have more than one land rover to cover these eventualities...
Clearly you were well prepared! |
