Just to second comments above. Regardless of if you deal direct with the third party or go through insurance. Keep the vehicle in your possession at ALL times! Any/all inspections and assessments are done while you wait. DO NOT hand over custody of YOUR car to anyone until the repair is agreed. Far to many cases of clearly repairable vehicles being 'stolen' from their owners to feed the highly leveraged salvage market that sell these valuable vehicles on to be repaired or cloned while making a hefty margin for the management companies that add on eye watering fees for various related services.

Your car, not your fault, you're in charge. Keep it that way!

Scott,

I’m so sorry to see those photos, I was admiring it at the steam fair. Hopefully soon it will be back to its former beauty.

Where did the accident happen?

The other party’s insurer cannot financially write off your car, only yours can do that. Your claim is against the other party (via their insurer), so be clear with your own insurer about that.

RFT, the accident was at an offset Cross roads, I was on the main road going straight ahead (30 mph zone) the transit was turning right, across my path.

At the time of impact I was probably doing around 20mph as I did 'lock' up and swirve to avoid but it was not enough Sad

** Update **

My insurance (through Grove & Dean) have sent out an insurance assesor, I am pleased he was an 'old boy' not a twenty something in a tesla model 3 Smile Smile

He seemed to understand the classic car status and the fact its 'more than just a car'. I appreciate they still have to work within the guidlines but we had a good chat and he seemed to suggest they may offer a 'pay out' whereby they pay me a price we agree and I go and get the car fixed.

The car is currently in my workshop behind 2 locked sets of gates so its going nowhere quick Smile especially having heard some stories where they write it off and take it away.

Its getting fixed and staying with us any which way they want to do this. Smile

Thanks for the advice so far all Thumbs Up

Good update Thumbs Up
And great to hear.

I’m sure you know… it’s common practice for them to make a low first offer.
You don’t have to accept it and it’s quite acceptable for you to counter.
Go back at least 25% higher…. With reasons why you believe the offer to be low.
For sure… some embellishment may be required.
They always come back with a stronger offer.
They want it closed and off their books

Good Luck

Hello

Yes, RFT, as we waited oposite sat on the bench for recovery we almost whitneesed half a dozen more accidents...

Nothing to update yet I think I will put a request out for a wing as I need to start getting that sorted. From what I see you can buy the side panel and the front but not the top...

Would you consider used?
More original, maybe better quality?
Save your repair budget?

Hello

More than happy with used as long as straight.

I have been looking on marketplace & facebook.

Some need a front and others a side so ive noticed as long as the top is straight. All good 👍
