I know that is what is in the iGUIDE… I wanted to know what is actually marked in your CoC or in your car papers.
The reason is that I have a trailer that is exceeding the 150kg limit and on the JLR site it even says that the deployable bar can take 350kg. But my CoC says 150kg which would mean that I cannot tow my trailer!! |

In the UK the legal limit is 150kg. However the same in Aus is 350kg.
With 350 you can tow pretty much anything. Not legally… Can you not distribute the weight so the nose weight is near the 150kg mark? What the Heck you have on tow… ![]() |

The town ball weight is recommended to be 5-7%, even 10% of the trailer weight. The max trailer (tow) weight is often limited by county and driver's license laws, but from the manufacturer is probably about 3500kg, meaning about 350kg tow ball weight.
I know in the UK they are more flexible but in mainland Europe most drivers are limited to 3500kg total weight which means about 1500kg Max trailer weight so about 150kg tow ball weight. |

I am towing a 4 horse trailer with a maximum weight of 3500kg The issue is that on paper everything is good, but when I measured the tongue weight of the trailer (empty) it is already over the 150kg that the CoC of the trailer states. I then asked LR dealer, and they said it is 350kg maximum, but CS said 159kg like on my CoC for my Def. I am now in contact with manufacturer of trailer to see how they got it certified like this!! Is your towball at the correct height for the trailer? Makes a huge difference on twin axles.
UK and Europe recommend 4-5% of gross weight on the nose, Australia among others recommends 10%. Hence designed for the 10%. I've heard of horse trailers that get lighter on the nose when loaded, depending on how the horses load. Also, I bet once you've loaded 4 horses and associated horsey accessories into your probably 1500kg trailer, you're over 3500kg anyway. |

In the EU the horses cannot move once loaded. Very important.

Miker… I know about the tongue weight and am measuring at the right height.
If you read my initial question, I asked if someone could check on their CoC to see what is marked there as here in Luxembourg it is marked as 150kg and I want to see if there is anywhere in Europe (note I am not saying EU) that has it as 350kg like in AU. Regarding the 3500kg MAM… no… I do NOT exceed it!! @TexasRover… it is not about the horses moving!! It is because the trailer has a nose weight of 160-180kg even when it is EMPTY so this is not related to the horses moving about!! I have two choices… 1. Try to get the nose weight on my LRs increase, 2. Get the balance of the trailer sorted to reduce the nose weight. Since I am looking in to all possibilities, I would hoping that someone on here would have been kind enough to ASSIST and answer the question that I had asked rather than simply make silly unhelpful remarks. Sorry I was obviously mistaken so I will take back my question and hope that JLR will finally answer with something that makes sense!! Thanks all the same. |
