Your steering angle sensor is probably now out of calibration if you didn't place it back exactly in the same place as it came off. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I don't think it self learns (some cars you can steer full left to right and back again etc), it's a diagnostic tool job. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Not sure why it’s staying on now, but that’s the traction control light.

I read on another forum that you have to drive over 5m oh to reset it. No idea if it’s right or not, but worth a try.

No that is the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) ETC (traction control) on the defender is a different light and to get on my soapbox lessor motor manufacturers use the aforementioned light as a traction control light. As they simply have Gaslit the public into thinking that when directional control is lost that means traction and that means taking throttle control away from you to regain it. My works transit does the same, spins a wheel (in a straight line) and that stupid light comes on and the ECU backs the throttle off. Coming back on topic As martin says it's more than likely that you have disturbed the SAS you will have to get it plugged in to do a relearn. Essentially it's lost how far left or right input you have steered. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |
