still struggling but no way as bad, i am going to to change the fuel filter, just in case that has something in it. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

still feels under powered, but its no way near as bad as it was though. So not sure if water in diesel causing trouble, and with me running it a little, its getting it out of the system. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

1.- have you checked the MAF value while revving the engine maybe its stuck in a fixed value and giving, it should go from 50 to 500
2.- the manifold pressure is reading OK??
3.- Is your turbo OK? Augusto

Hopefully that's the problem and the fix is straightforward.

I was reading Geobloke's thread the other day.
He had a similar issue and the bit about replacing the fuel pump is below in case you need it.

Remember that the discovery Td5 pump and the defender ones are identical, they just have a different float arm on them, and for some reason the disco ones were always a bit cheaper.

the float arm just unclips so you can swap it over. Thumbs Up

We are back in action! Fuel pump after all this.

Now my experience here with the 306 HDI Which is a common rail diesel, When the ECU doesn't see the proper fuel pressure, it will just shut the full system down and the car just spins over, until the battery dies.

The TD5 system looks like it will still run regarding the pressure, but will miss fire and struggle like hell, until the fuel pump just bites the dust. so i am suspecting its a sort of get me home/ garage trick, where the Peugeot will just shut off and that's its

Looks like its had a cheap unit put in it sadly, but if anyone has to do this, id say change the relay too, for the sake price of a slab of beer. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

yeah if you are going to drop the tank, syphon the tank out 1st, makes life a lot easier

is the kit i bought for the tank, had a right riot getting the plastic ring on the tank, a long with the locking ring, but they did lock in. New parts.
Get a pal to give a hand and get the motor on axle stands on the chassis, so the rear axle hangs out of the way.
WD40 or what ever spray you use, before you got at anything. guard wise, The pipes on the fuel neck side are the ones that will hold it in place, but make sure you move the breather hose on the passenger side too, that can stop you, Anti roll bar is best removed and towing assemble so its all well out of the way for access. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
