Misfiring and struggling with power.
Right o this is biting me now, i cannot get the car through an mot, at all. Rolling Eyes
When we had all this rain back in November, the car started to run erratic, and struggled like hell to get to 40 mph. To the point i had to pull over and let it sort it self out.
I checked the ECU for oil, and cleaned and replaced the harness for the injectors. Made no difference at all.
I bought a cheap Crank sensor, still the same trick, ( em light on this time) I got someone out to put the car on diagnostics
got a few error codes.
dirty crank sensor, and crank high signal lost.

Changed the crank sensor back to the original unit, and i have just wired in a replacement loom and i am still in the same boat here. I have changed the foot pedal just rule that out, its had a new Maf sensor in, and i did unplug that and the same with the one in the air box, Car still behaved the same,
Turbo wastegate is nice and free, i am getting a lot of smoke out the exhaust when i rev it, i am not sure if the fuel pressure regulator is acting up or what? Seems to be a bit of oil under that area where the starter motor is.
Any ideas on what else it could be? before i book it in to a land rover specialist Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I did the fuel pressure regulator on my one with the X8R kit, i didn’t have any normal running issues but it wasn’t happy pulling our 3.5 tonne trailer and started dripping diesel over the gear box.

Make sure you have a 3/8th torque wrench and a selection of extensions. Only takes about an hour.

Are you getting any oil dilation? Is the Oil level going up?

It could be the injector seals.
You don't really need an oil level increase for you injector seals to give problems. Roel

Swap out the fuel filter and introduce some injector cleaner to the fuel such as Millers Diesel Ecomax.
I've had rough running and misfires caused by an old fuel filter before.
good luck

Could it be possible that you have water in your fuel tank?? How old is the filter? Tried draining some off the filter?

i did drain the fuel filter off, just to see if it was water in diesel. I will switch it over with another one, just to see if the fuel filter is damaged. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

have you done a sniff test to check the coolant to make sure its not the head gasket? You don't always get mayo in the oil.

Check the fuel pump relay.

Mine failed recently and, before leaving me stranded, the 90 was down on power and would give off white smoke when trying to boot it over 2,500RPM. Charlie

I think this may have cracked it like, Just fired the car over, before hand it was idling bad, and puffing smoke.
Powered the motor off, and had a bit of play with the relays, Mine seems to be the one in the middle. So swopped that for the new one, and it fired as normal. revved it a bit and it seems to be happier, and i put the car in reverse and it didn't start miss firing. My dad said it sounds happier, he said change the fuel filter on it just with it been standing, so i will do that when it dries.
We will see though how the car performs though, because i have been lead down it seems ok before and its not Rolling Eyes Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
