Galvanic corrosion

I’m familiar with the corrosive effect of steel next to aluminium from my 45 year old lightweight, but had hoped LR might have looked to mitigate the issue by 2013!
My Puma has serious holes in the second row aluminium footplate- and in areas not in direct contact with steel. Grateful for any comments and solutions. Plate over with a new aluminium section from the inside, with appropriate isolation washers between the metals? Is a pre-formed floor section available?
Thanks

YRM seem to be the go to place for metalwork. That would be my first point of call.

Further inspection required there....I have a feeling you'll find a lot more misery 😥

I had this level of corrosion on my 05 110. I was shocked at that given its age but a 2013 Shocked

As said above, a replacement panel from YRM will be the solution. They do complete upstand which are riveted in place. It is not a horrendous job but does take a while. On the plus side, while you have the floor panel and upstand off it gives good access to assess/clean the crossmember and top of the chassis rails. Perhaps also replace the floor plate screws with SS and as you say, isolate everything when it goes back together.

Thanks guys- YRM seems to be the place to go, and not too far from me either. I’m wondering if the degree of corrosion is due to some electrical or earthing issue- the vehicle has been fitted with a VHF radio from new (2013) and in very regular use. Just trying to think of reasons the aluminium corrosion is so bad- particularly in sections which aren’t in immediate contact with steel…..

Would your seaside location affect this type of corrosion?

The vehicle has spent most of its life in Scotland and Cumbria- but don’t think it should do in any event.

If you get to have the floor and the upstand out, consider replacing the body crossmember, the YRM version with the bolt on brackets is good 👍🏻
