United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Quick help
Hoping for a bit of quick advice.

So my 2007 110 CSW on all standard set up with original boost alloys shod in BFG AT at 235 85 16 which will need replacing soon.

I have been offered a nice set of BFG AT 245 70 16....

So, will 245 be an issue with lock or going on the rims and will 70 look like a low profile on the Defender.

All personnel opinions welcome and any pictures of this setup would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

they will fit on the rims no problem, will be slightly smaller in diameter so will lower the gearing, turning circle should not be affected as small width change coupled with reduced diameter.

Can’t speak from personal experience as I’m still using 235/85/16, but there are many on here who have upgraded to a wider tyre and have not experienced any insurmountable issues.

I do know that the 70 is the aspect ratio so you do need to keep an eye on that in terms of wider tyres and overall diameter as it might throw your speedo reading out.

Those with real/proper knowledge and experience will be along shortly to provide you with the info you require.

Good luck!

Thank you both, I think my concern is around them looking too low profile and other owners bullying me Laughing Laughing Laughing

I can see what you mean now, but Defender owners don’t bully - only wave!

As you’ve requested, some pics will help you make your mind up Thumbs Up

They will look a bit weird on a 110 as the height is 2+ inches less than a normal 235 tyre.
You will also lose over an inch of ground clearance

I think you'll still have some margin of 'safety' before any bullying is appropriate...

You will probably never break a halfshaft, and you can remove 1st gear from the gearbox if it is a tdci.
But it will look weird. Had an acquaintance that had those tyres on a 90 HT. Never looked right. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
