And if you really, really, really wanted to be maniacal you'd use moly grease (that 'orrible black stuff that gets everywhere) on the prop shaft sliding joint. I've only got some in the garage 'cos I use it on classic king-pins, otherwise lithium is just as good.

I have noticed Granville do a multi purpose grease (shows a picture of a wheel bearing on it) and a CV grease that has the Molybdenum in it. What is the difference and can one be used for both or is it better to use them on the different items.

I only really want to have one grease gun as it is for my truck only so I don't expect to be using silly amounts of it.

Thanks for all the help so far. I have wanted to give the truck a full service including oils but I have picked some work up and that is keeping me busy, but I want to be prepared for when I can start it!

Grease with molybdenum is better for sliding surfaces, like you get on splined shafts or inside CV joints. Plain Lithium grease is intended for rolling surfaces like wheel bearings etc. There are mixed views on whether you should use moly grease in roller bearing applications, or weather it encourages the rollers or balls to skid. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Ah, ok. Standard lithium grease then for the gun. If it comes to doing the CV joints I will look at that then. Or I may have one of the small push grease guns in the garage that I could use for the prop.

Thanks for the help.

Normal Lithium grease is fine for all of the prop shaft's needs. Defenders use a special Thixotropic "one-shot" grease anyway for the CVs 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Both Gwyn Lewis and Ashcroft are recommending "Morris K48" grease for general purpose use, CVs and Propshafts:

https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/morris-...artridges/

which is a Lithium based grease. I have used it fairly liberally, its thick sticky stuff which tends to go everywhere, but I guess that's a good thing unless you do your own washing... 2005 Td5 90 XS

Lithium with Molybdenum, which is what most people would know as CV grease.

However I do trust ashcroft to know their stuff! Personally I've always used "normal" lithium grease for wheel bearings, props, and other "high speed" stuff, and moly grease for CV's and "lower speed" stuff.

In reality, for most applications, fresh grease and the right amount of it is way more important than the exact spec!

For anti seize, nothing better than this one here. Metals free and will never harden and break to pieces as some other do.

Is that similar to this ceramic paste? Weicon is almost 3 times the price of this.

Do you reckon I could use this in the UJs and wheel bearings?

I've got a cartridge in my tool box, that I 'acquired' at some point, but have never really used. Seems a waste to buy something else, if this would do the trick. 2011 CSW XS 90
