Has anyone fitted a Fayou brand heated windscreen?
I had a heated windscreen fitted a while back since the old screen and seal needed replacing.

I am only getting around to working it up now and I don't know which side of the screen is positive and which side is negative.

It's a Fayou brand screen, I wont be able to contact the supplier until tomorrow.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I wouldnt have thought the polarity of the screen would have mattered but it says so in the instructions of the wiring kit.

I'd really like to get it going tonight.

Looks like I'm screwed for the moment, screen is using more current by the looks of things.

I'm using a Britpart witing kit and it's only rated for 20 amps, I've read elsewhere that the Fayou screen needs 30 amps.

I'm hoping I can just upgrade the supply to the screen, the earth and the relays.

The polarity of the screen shouldn't matter, just like a bulb it is simply a case of current flowing through filaments that get warm.

In my experience with HFS on Land Rover, Ford and Volkswagen the circuit protection is well in excess of 20 amp, my screen is protected by a 40 amp fuse and similar rated relay. Those tiny filaments offer up very little resistance hence the current is so high. Ohm's law and all that stuff we learnt at school but never put into practical use! V = I x R or in this case I = V/R

The very high current is the reason why on a factory fitted HFS the screen will not function if the engine is not running (sensed from the oil pressure switch). A very fast method of draining your battery otherwise.

Thanks Penfold, looks like polarity is not an issue.

The issue now is the wiring kit, I knew I should have waited and got a decent kit from Pace Automotive or the likes.

As far as i'm aware the only kit rated higher is from Tim at Mobilecentre... all the other copy kits have all copied the Britpart version (also made by Mobilecentre - but Britpart wanted to keep price down).

You can tell the HD version, as Mobile centre use an extra relay to control the actual feed to the screen rather than relying on the orange time relay. Woudn't be hard to modifiy the Britpart loom you have. IRB
