Puma Heated Seats
Hi all, this might be a non-issue but I've got an 08 XS with factory fitted half-leather heated seats. I've only had the truck since August so I haven't had it in the cold yet, however when the heated seats are turned on I really can't seem to feel any heat at all being given off by them.
I accept that it might just be that the standard seat heating is poor and not noticeable unless it's cold, however I'm instead assuming that something isn't right.

Any tips on diagnosing what the issue could be? I'm likely going down the Exmoor (or other suggestion?) foam and cover replacement to freshen up the front and the cubby lid, however I have no idea when that will happen and it would be nice to have some seat heating for the bad back.

You should feel them especially on your butt ocks (as forest gump would say) and lower back.

Double check there isnt any inline fuses - have you checked the passenger side to see if that is getting warm?

Pop the seat base up and double check all connections underneath also could be just a loose plug, let us know how you get on.

The puma seats don't give off anywhere near as much heat as others I've used..
SWMBOs evoque cooks your backside, the standard puma ones are more of a gentle warming to take the chill off...

That said, if you're not feeling anything at all it points to an issue. Is it the same with both passenger and driver seats?

There's a common fault with puma heated seats, my driver side stopped working. Good place to start looking, and an excellent how to here:

I used this as an excuse for a drive out this morning, turned on the passenger heated seats and there is heat being generated but it still seems to be really quite low amounts, though actually noticable so better than the drivers side.

This weekend I'll pull out the seats and check the thermostat/wiring as per the attached thread, hopefully it's something as simple as that.

If this isn't the issue, any suggestions how I'd go about detecting where the problem was or is it simpler/smarter to just replace the heating elements and wiring given that it's over a decade old anyway?

PS - Thanks for the input so far guys, it seems like the stock heating is capable of good heat, it's just a little hesitant to give me more than lukewarm.

I stuck our Puma’s seats into my Td5. They’re luke warm compared to my old Td5 seats. Charlie

Defender seats aren’t as hot as others which I like. I switch them on in the start of September and off in about Easter. Thumbs Up

I can feel the heat, but nothing extraordinary, even if it has been replaced and are brand new. I would say I can compare the heat level to something between level 1 and level 2 out of 3 of any heated seat in VW/Skoda/Audi. What puzzeled me is that it seems to shut down after 5 -8 minutes or so. Normal?

Hello All

Rather than start a New Post I thought i'd add to this one as it's general in nature...

Q. Does anyone know if the under seat connectors (Heated Seats) are available?

I have a broken yellow wire (assume +) and connected black (-) on one (male) connector
(drivers side... so I have a wish to fix before winter Thumbs Up )

The Connector needs replacing and has also partially melted, only slightly but you can just see (right hand plug) some deformation, possibly due to the broken wire.

Part No's for a direct replacement for a male / female / combined connector, would be great or if not a recommended 'alternative' for an easy plug in and unplug connector...

They don't look like the OE connectors for heated seats. Those are black like this:

They're available from Mobile Centre amongst others:

The are definitely not OE plugs, and probably neither are the seat heaters. You look like you have Waeco seat heaters. If so there is usually a switch which allows the user to increase or decrease the heat they put out.

Might be worth tracing the wiring to check for the variable heat switch/dial...
