Oil for differentials - Defender Puma.
New Defender owner, and now changing the oil on both differentials, Puma. Ongoing, so quick feedback is appreciated:-).

Can CASTROL TRANSMAX AXLE LONG LIFE 75W-90 be used on both front and rear?

Thanks for guidance. Also, ran short, about 100-200ml of CASTROL TRANSMAX AXLE LONG LIFE 75W-90. Can I top up with CASTROL TRANSMAX UNIVERSAL LL 75W-90 ?

Looking at the datasheets:

Transmax Axle Long Life 75W-90
Axle Fluid - Multivehicle
Description
Castrol Transmax Axle Long Life 75W-90, formulated with Smooth Drive TechnologyTM, is a full synthetic rear axle fluid.
It provides superior protection, especially when driving under stop-start or extreme conditions e.g. towing. This enables
smoother axle operation and noise reduction, resulting in a more comfortable drive throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.
Specially designed and approved by BMW for use in all BMW final drives fitted with conventional (non limited slip)
differentials. It is Castrol's prime recommendation for final drives in heavy commercial vehicles, and is approved by MAN,
Scania and ZF.

Transmax Universal LL 75W-90
Universal Fluid for manual transmissions and axles
Description
Castrol Transmax Universal LL 75W-90 formulated with Smooth Drive Technology™ is a full synthetic multi purpose
manual transmission and final drive lubricant. It may be used in synchronised manual transmissions and final drives /
differentials of a wide range of vehicles (commercial vehicle, construction equipment) where API GL-4 or API GL-5 fluids
are required and it carries a number of approvals

I guess the former is just more expensive because it is approved by BMW Shocked
Otherwise they are very similar oils and there will be no issue mixing them. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I use Motul Gear 300 oil in diffs, transfer and gearbox a bit pricey but well worth the extra and simplifies only having 2 oils Very Happy 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8
