What’s this well hidden under steering column
Good morning,
For the first time noticed something well hidden under the steering column shroud. You cannot reach it with your hands as space is too tight. It is something meant to be there as the little circular hole is nicely finished. Difficult to see, but seems something circular with two little metallic points and one or more electric wires. The first picture shows the best detail, the other two are more of an overview. Any idea?
Eric

Hello ericvv

It's a small location 'Boss' that stays in place when you remove the lower instrument (Stalks) cover.
Yours looks to have an internal wire that has been semi pulled through / trapped, which would be worth
freeing up. Its all a bit tight on a Puma but with the rubber tray mat out and then working your way round
the fixing screws it easy enough. When the cover is off you will see the intention of this 'little feature'.

Good Luck SKIP

Thanks for the explanation Skip,
As everything is working as it should, I think I’m just going to leave it alone and not create potential problems by toying around in this tight space. Laughing

Leaving it as it is will decrease the value of your defender by at least 50-75%. On the other hand, the truck immediately will start to corrode badly as soon as that wire is put back in place...Wink

My guess is that it's a stray wire from one of the Steering Column Stalks...

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy
