Intermittent Start
Inconsistent start feels, probably luck based, alignment of stars and planets and sometimes having everything crossed.

Or alll of the above

So whats been replaced in the last 12months

Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter housing (Gore Machined one) and valves
FPR Gasket
Injector washer and seals (seat re-cut)
New starter motor
Crank Position Sensor

Last on the list is to check are earths and relays but I don't have RAVE or anything to check which relay is which could someone give me a hand with that please.

As I look into the drivers seatbox, From left to right I have two Yellow relays and one Black one, and thats all.

Don't know what else to consider... and yeah I've cleaned the ECU plugs as well as already replaced injector loom as well.

Cheers Luke Marsden

you have might have already done this but its important that you have a really good earth so i would recheck and clean all the earth points. When it fails to start are you getting any clicking sounds from any of the relays under the drivers seat ? if so that could be there is a fault with the connectors that the relays plug into ?

I have literally just been through this infuriating problem and diagnostic list of things to check.

Turned out to be the relays were just worn, see here:

https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53859-180.html

Pull out the relays and open them up, check the contacts for pitting, charring and like in my glow plug relay smoke stains... Shocked

Since replacing the relays she has not failed to start. Although I now have bigger problems... Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the suggestions - I've just replaced all three relays with some generic ones that are the same AMps and voltage but still not luck.

I'll be checking and cleaing all earth points tomorrow. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Luke Marsden

Is your engine cranking over ?

Is starter relay resaving 12v supply from fuse box ?

Yeah the engine is crankning fine and battery is charging fine too, I'll have to check the relays

But, it looks like it more of a fueling issue as is struggles to catch but after let's say "sufficient" cranking it will start Luke Marsden

Try, for a while, always priming the fuel pump, before you attempt to start it. That may indicate that you are getting air into the system.

Yeah thats always been the process - I have a suspicion that it may be injector washer and seals again, A bit premature since they were already replaced just over a year ago.

I won't be removing those fora few days yet though. Luke Marsden

ok as landy andy
priming mod the fuel pump, with the fuel pump running press accelerator pedal five times you see amber engine lamp on the dash flash and fuel pump start and stop 4 times

when i have fitted new injector seal and copper washer in the past i fund that having priming fuel system 2 or 3 times the engine still will not fire up (air lock in the injectors stopping the fuelling )

you may also need to floor accelerator pedal when starting the engine this give long PWM to the injectors

also Landy Andy air in fuel system have look at your fuel filter head can be problem and also ( air bleed valve and duck bill nonreturn valve letting fuel dram back from head

We’re Land Rover parts used?

I’ve read about other makes not working well, or for long.

The airbleed and one way we're just items from an eBay store, I might replace them with genuine however the airbleed is quite Censored up with debris so it seems either the washers are gone or maybe some corrosion on the tank side of things Luke Marsden
