New, modern, rear view mirror with back up camera
New rear view mirror installed. Needed to fabricate a mounting bracket and it works great. Forward dash cam, auto dimming, rear view camera all in one. 👍🏻

We also have a mirror with built in forward and rear dash cam which works well for us - not the most expensive but does the job!

Ive added it directly to the battery as it works better that way, and added a dedicated on/off switch to the device which is nice as I can leave it on when parked in supermarkets etc...

Love your mounting bracket !

Looks neat .. do you have the details to see if its available in the UK ? How did you go about wiring up - assume up the sides of the windscreen and across/under head lining ? Cheers

Aliexpress is where I picked it up so I am sure you can get there. I’ll look for the exact model. Yes I ran the wires down the A pillar and then back up and ran it along the gunnel to the rear and dropped it out from the rear window panels to the rear tail light and then out through the grommet to the camera. Thumbs Up

This can also be left on and has gyro on board to start recording on impact and or vibration sensors to do the same thing. 👍🏻

Found it!

I saw this rear view mirror mentioned by the OP when I was looking for one. I should have bought this one as I think it doubles as a dash DVR. Would have already paid itself 😩. I went for a much cheaper version.

The problem I have with mine is its physical size. When my SWMO lowers the sunshade (she still hopes that there is a mirror), she knocks the rear view mirror/monitor out of its adjustment.... partly because the sunshades are gigantic, and partly because the new rear view mirror is humongous. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Yup its much larger I can see both people sitting in the two seats behind me. And yes the passenger sun visor hits the mirror. 🤷‍♂️ For it not to do that, it would have to sit a couple inches lower which I was not prepared to do.

Also I just noticed it has doubled in price since I picked it up a few months back Shocked 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

I placed a picture of my setup on this thread. https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic78756.html

You can also see that only 30% of the mirror is really rear view. The rest is the view of the seats Shocked 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Where’d you get the bracket? Did you pull the OEM one out and insert it into the new mirror? 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

Hi 4RF RDS,
Can you give some detail on the mounting bracket you made for the rear view camera please?

I have the same problem, both sun visors hit the mirror. Plus, unless it’s a dull day it’s hard to see the camera image as the screen isn’t that bright.

I’m about to ditch it and try a radio with built in screen for viewing the camera.

Cheers

I ordered one like this, for the price it's worth a go.
