replacement water in fuel sensor wiring
While under the car I noticed the wires that go into the water-in-fuel sensor have snapped right at the plug(car loom side). Are these available as a repair item, maybe a 300mm section with a plug already attached? 1999 Defender TD5 110

You can certainly get a replacement connector/terminals (Sumitomo HW Series) but have not seen a connector with repair cables attached.

I have had exactly the same issue as you with the water sensor wiring though. From memory though you should be able to get more than enough cable on the existing loom to re-terminate the broken bit, i have certainly done that with mine, you will probably need to clean up the copper conductor though in the cable as it will be blackened. Worth watching the latest Ed China video on youtube where he cleans up the copper with some basic chemicals.

Cheers Steve. I will have a look for (Sumitomo HW Series) connectors.
I suspect the wires will be black Sad 1999 Defender TD5 110

Just in case you do not know. You can run without the sensor connected, it will not effect the operation of the vehicle.

I have just changed the fuel filter on mine and the water tap at the bottom was a different thread size to the sensor... I was quite miffed, but hey-ho I can continue for now until I can get a new filter.

It does make me wonder whether fitting a secondary inline fuel filter would be a good idea, I see that the Oz an SA lot swear by them on common rail diesels... Might be worth a thought... Rolling Eyes

Cheers Geobloke. I have been running for a while with the wiring disconnected.
I have since ordered and had delivered the right connector for the chassis loom connector.
Another job on the list. 1999 Defender TD5 110
