Apologies, yes I knew what you meant but couldn't get the image out of my head. Thumbs Up

Reading various online mags stating "the V8 gets a new Electronic Active Rear Differential" but looking at the latest JLR pricing list, it looks like it could be the same one fitted to all whether standard or optioned (unless part numbers are different):

So I wonder, if the drift mode is there in the software for all vehicles and is another feature available to those that go playing with CCFs and other bits of software?

Are JLR going to add the V8s to the configurator or just keep them as dealer orders

The configurator still has the first edition model listed so it probably going to be updated with the new specs soon.

Yes, but I interpret that as LR being lazy and not being bothered updating their system. They still refer to those as MY21s. Whistle Whistle

The first edition came up last night when I was checking for the V8. Did the same with the 6 cylinder diesel change last year on the configurator, took a few days to sort the website out.

Where is a normal punter, even with the money to purchase one of these, going to be able to do that. On the public roads?

[Looking sheepish] er, I think that might be me.

We have deepish snow, mountain passes and hairpins. Sometimes the easiest way around a hairpin in the snow is traction off, weight the front, get it turning in and then use the power to get the car rotating. Obviously you need to know what's coming but we're talking relatively low speeds and it's certainly more controllable than understeer which on snow is the default.

I used to drive a manual Subaru Forester XT covering decent amount of km each year either on fresh snow or gravel. That car didn't have electronic stabilisation but was unstoppable as soon as you had learnt the basics of weight transfer and left foot braking.

My most recent car has been a BMW 3 series with x-drive and unfortunately it has two issues - first, switching off traction (and leaving it on on snow is appalling) sharpens the throttle and hangs on to gears longer which isn't really what you want. Mine also has a BMW exhaust system that bangs and crackles depending on the mode and switching traction off opens the valves in the exhaust which for driving around town at low speed isn't very sociable. Secondly on snow its low ground height means that you can sometime find the snow pushing the wheels off the ground (or building up at the front). I'm sure I'd be faster, and have more enjoyment, on snow in a Panda with a 5th of the power.

Or you could go old school:

Ive ordered one a V8 110. Its hardly related to the original Defender, and I have a 2015 90 that I love. For our family it is a replacement for a luxury SUV and we did not want to wait for new Range and SVR Sport is also due to expire . I see it as a slightly less aggressive G63. In that light it looks reasonable if a car at this price is normal. In any other light mad. But , I want to enjoy these crazy things before we go silent. But I do agree with sentiment, this is not really a Defender, it is something else, more a Discovery replacement. Still, it makes the true Defender look a steal at the prices they command. Mine is a 2015 20 k miles , maybe it would get £30 k . It steals the show when out and about.

Anyway, I love Landrover, I have had so many, never had any quality issues everyone talks about, and still think it is one of the finest brands and vehicle ranges in the world. Question, what other company has multiple vehicles you can identify ? I can clealry see every Landrover product. Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Aston ? They all look the same.

There were photos of the new Defender they (Bowler) had quite a while ago. I wonder if it's actually already there and it's been the delay in the rollout of other iterations that need to be serially launched that has kept this under wraps to date.
