hot water and key
place metal part of the key in to hot water and then in to lock barrel or heat gun on low heat abus lock lubricant ps88 will help stop icing up |

This is a real pain when this happens, also bouncy door seals! I use a silicon lubricant in locks and on door seals prior to winter kicking in seems to help.
Sounds like your sorted now anyway  |

Thanks Mike. Can I put lubricant on the rubbers around the door windows then as they were frozen shut as well?

Assuming you mean the weather strip at the bottom of the windows on the doors, I dont see why not as long as it's a safe for rubber lubricant such as silicon, the only thing with putting any lubricant these is you dont want any lubricant getting on the glass itself.
Personally I dont bother with that and scrape the windows clear before attempting to open them. |

Gummi Pflege is what you need to treat the seals with, use it on my 90 and also on an SLK. It stops the seals freezing but also keeps them soft and supple

Yep, +1 for Gummi Pflege (or Rubber Care, if you don't speak german) for the seals.
To prevent my drivers' door lock freezing (the passengers' doesn't as it is next to the house) I just made up a protective sleeve from pipe lagging. Cut slots so it fits onto the handle and block the ends - it works a treat for me. |

ACF50 for the locks a silicone spray for the rubber seals DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
