I removed my driver lock completely and replaced with a passengers door handle. Extra bit of security.
Can always get in via the rear if the central locking doesn't open,

What do you do if you ever need to use the EKA code?

Ignore this - I now realise that this is only relevant for Disco 1, 2 and Freelander. Defender uses the ignition lock for this purpose.

The sad thing is that in the overall scheme of things it doesn't really help with the security, since there are several ways to get into the vehicle very quickly and easily which don't involve the driver's door exterior lock at all. It might confuse some of the more stupid and less experienced villains though, and every little helps.

Removing the lock would make it very difficult to lock the car and (for example) leave a dog in it, since you couldn't lock it without activating the volumetric sensor. Again, this may not be a problem but is a factor you may want to consider.

The latter can be replicated with a simple switch on the cabling to the volumetric sensor. Handy for those with things like fuel burning heaters that can set off the sensor, as well as leaving animals inside. Dave
