Straightening warped chequer plate
I took the bonnet chequer plate in to get blasted and powder coated. I was advised it might warp and it has.
The metal now has a bow it in. (the edge at the top of the bonnet)

What's the best way of removing this warp? Currently clamped flat with G-Clamps but I don't think this will pull it back to shape. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Without damaging the surface, your only real option is to put small packers under the centre of the panel and gently clamp the edges past 'flat', slowly increasing the packers until it springs back flat, bit at a time until its acceptable.

good luck

Managed to get some warpage out of the metal. I ended up supporting two corners and bouncing up and down on the metal to bend back in to place. Clamping didn't work. There is still a section that needs warpage removing. This is towards the front edge, where the metal curves over the front of the bonnet. 1999 Defender TD5 110
