As the thread title will attract people looking for MAF hints, this is what I know from experience...
Sluggish performance can usually be fixed with a MAF sensor, I learnt this in my many td5 defender ownerships The missus bought an RS4 and my first drive of it was underwhelming. I fitted a MAF (due to td5 experiences) and it woke it up and made it ‘go’ as expected. LAST WEEK i chauffeured the missus to London in her Evoque, I thought it had lost it’s ‘zip’ and made a mental note to get a MAF sensor..... Earlier this week I got a text from mrs g saying her Evoque had gone into ‘restricted performance’ .... I drove it when I got home and took it to a mate to put it on diagnostics...it came up with 2 EGR faults P0405 & P0403..... So I bought a MAF sensor and it fixed it...... don’t believe all that your code reader tells you. Buy a MAF sensor |

I did this repair a few weeks ago with one of Martins' pre-wired plugs. Details here:

Darren
Perfectly detailed and photographed repair. I’ll have to try those solder sleeves for the first time. Cheers Keith |

I have just snipped the old sensor off and reconnected the new one. It now won’t fire up. Have I done these colours wrong ? Keith Click image to enlarge |

Amazing what a breather and cuppa T can do, especially when the usual remedy for frustration is the big hammer. I had all 4 colours nicely cut, soldered, taped and wrapped away perfectly. Thinking I’d done a wrong colour when the engine wouldn’t fire up,immobilised, I stripped my neat job back out to still find being immobilised.
Common sense made me start tracing fuses and low and behold. Thanks to Martin and Darren. Cheers again Keith. Click image to enlarge |

Wheres the best place to buy a MAF sensor for a TD5 Greeni? Prices seem to vary so much, would you go OEM or not? Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender
