MAF and MAP Sensor replacement.
I have recently changed both my MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) and MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor.)
To brand new, this was well worth doing in my case despite my originals being problem free and periodically cleaned.
The following I thought I would share with others, and applies to the 2.4 Defender only.
I have no connection at all with these suppliers, however, these are the ones I have used in the last two weeks.

MAF Sensor P/N 6C11 12B579 AA

Approx LR Genuine price for comparison purposes £166.45

MAP Sensor P/N 0261230131
Link to Genuine Bosch part:

eBay item no: eBay Item No. 163058042720
£27.99 All in cost.
Approx LR Genuine price for comparison purposes £74.69

Approximate saving using these GUARANTEED OEM factory fitted parts £177.15!

I have checked these parts for accuracy and actual part numbers many times.

The MAF I am happy with as a Ford Genuine part as after all it is a Ford engine. It is very very likely this is a factory fitted Ford part. LR only re-box and re-brand with associated price tag for the same part.
Ford Genuine parts are definitely of equal quality to LR in my opinion.

This PN is an actual match.

The MAP has a code and a Bosch PN and logo. This tells me this is a Bosch part for certain.
Originally on my 2.4 the Bosch P/N was 0261230132
This has been replaced by Bosch PN 0261230131
The online catalog mentions this is the replacement.

I am 100% certain the factory fit IS a Bosch part.

I have had both fitted to my 2.4 all week now, and the original parts were 12 years old and never gave me a single issue in that time.
I thought they could do with replacing by now even though fully operational.
Both had been cleaned often, both cared for but thought I would replace anyway.

Performance and smoothness has increased, idle seems smoother also.
Power and responsiveness is certainly up.
I also scored an almost brand new take off Genuine LR air filter off eBay too for wait for it £9 all in! About a £26 saving also.

I thought I would share this as information possibly useful to others, I have planned this and looked into this for quite some time and finally got around to getting the parts bought and fitted.

I am very pleased! And as you can see is a significant saving.
If yours are as old as mine were or have never been cleaned I guarantee your drive will better and you will tell the difference.

Finally the torque spec for the MAP fixing is 3NM. I think this was a also using a 7mm socket IIRC.
and the MAF screws are IIRC a T25 Torx bit. (Don't over tighten.)
It pays to clean the manifold inlet before installing the MAP, I used an alcohol wipe.
Don't use anything metal or sharp.
Again the same applies to the MAF gasket seat and vicinity.
The MAP 'O' ring benefits from a little Silicone grease around it for a good seal before fitting.

I also used some 3M (blue painters tape) 3434 tape, to cover the manifold opening in between changing and cleaning to protect against any ingress of any accidental debris. I was under a tree after all.

You shouldn't need to remove the air box output hose at all when changing the MAF but when changing the air filter it can be easier.
Be sure to release the red locking tab on the connector before removing (and re-lock it when re fitted.) and observe airflow direction arrow printed on the MAF.
When I do the above, I fit a nitrile glove over the opening to again protect from ingress whilst working.

I hope this may help others, if anyone feels inclined to do the same please feel free to report back and let us all know how you get on and if you find a difference from before and after.

Yes, they are IIRC. They should be obtainable via similar methods and or suppliers in the same way for 2.2 Transits.
(Both sensors on a 2.2 should have P/N's printed on them if anything like the 2.4)
On the MAP look for the Bosch logo and code.

I found the Ford Genuine parts a bit of a pain to get hold of online, nothing more I hate than having to be ringing up and discussing.

That's really useful information Steve, good job. It's worth us all bearing in mind that JLR are not manufacturers but assemblers and therefore all their parts are bought in from outside suppliers. Yes some of the parts may be exclusive to JLR and have the green oval logo on them but these parts are the exception rather than the rule and most components are available through other sources albeit it sometimes takes a bit of detective work. Defender 90XS SW

I’ve been out today. Pulling a load, drives lovely and pulls like a train like brand new. In fact better than new with the Shift R fitted additionally.

I changed one at a time with a quick drive in between. Not very scientific, but the MAP change was more noticeable (my old one was oily.
I am wondering about taking the intercooler off and washing it out, as I know that it can accumulate oil, although when I changed the hoses a while back they did not seem oily inside. Engine has done 90K miles.
