England 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Alpine White
Turbo actuator plug
Morning everybody, i wonder if anybody can give me some advice, bought a 2008 110 ( love her) drove about 300 mile then fault light came on. so as usual ordered a nanocom unit checked code and it was turbo over pressure,
once back in my garage and embarking on new swivel kits and balls and steering bars and steering box.....got to love it i checked the actuator nothing was happening. i gripped the wires to the plug and it stated moving ( broken wire ) rebuilt plug and took her to pick up my new caravan. she ran like a dream apart from smoke for the first mile then nothing.
picked caravan up and she drove like nothing was on the back. anyway after a long hill along the motorway she just lost power completely all gauges went mental so pulled over plugged nanocom in and turbo over pressure / high temp air inlet ....cleared code and tried to start and she sounded like a 2 stroke needing more choke, turned off and back on and she was 100% after 19 mile it done it again but after 10 seconds she was fine.
l left nanocom plugged in and she was reaching 110 c on hills then dropping to 89 instantly after hills.

my thoughts are

1. crap from turbo has fouled egr
2. egr heating water too much

can i get a patch to blank egr through nanocom and delete mechanivally and softwary lol

or is this something else.......head gasket seems fine lots of pressure

any thought would be greatly appreciated series 2a 1966

This thread might help: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic73806...verheating

I would investigate why the temperature is climbing to 110dC first and foremost. since temperature drops to 90dc when there is less load, then it points to poor heat dissipation.. check radiator for clogging with leaves, dirt etc.
Good to check the viscous coupling on the radiator fan making sure that it draws enough air.

Is it getting hot due to excess fuel incease in egt from turbo issues still. What boost is being made at fault occurrence point? Cheers

well got bored and investigated.
took rad out cleaned through outside and in, loads of mud in veins
changed fluid to high quality coolant
changed water pump
changed thermostat (original 2007)

found after searching online and found exact same thermostat for MG temp 78 degree (havent fitted ,,,,a just in case thingy

temp is now 10 degree lower and towed caravan, temp didnt go above 92 even going up steep long hill

temp gauge is physically lower on needle

fingers crossed ( also now have plugged egr back in so thats back in the loop )

it still cools down instanltly when load finnished (but am i being overly concerned due to nanocom instantly updating temp ) series 2a 1966

Hope you've got it sorted. If it reoccurs have a look at my post here about "P0234-00 (28 ) turbo overboost condition" error and the steps I took to sort it
