As before on these tyres, I do about 30k per annum, have maxed out on all available performance improvements short of LPG injection and drive hard and fast in all environments. I live in the Kent Weald with plenty damp and twisty country lanes to enjoy. The tyres are dependable and predictable in every sense and after about 12 months still surprise me, and the saloon cars I chase, with the amount of grip they offer, even in the wet. Anyone in or near me is welcome to try!! Oh and they're oh so quiet too!

Hey thanks for that comment. think i will grab a pair (x2) Smile

I've had 265 Maxxs on Dakar (steel) rims for a little over 20,000 km and they're good in rain and slush. I simply define "good" as not losing traction in normal road use (I don't drive faster than 80 km/h in heavy rain and I don't tow anything heavy). They're also surprisingly quiet and are wearing slowly (considering how I thrash them). Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

They do get really good reviews but so do most tyres nowadays Confused Let me give you a scenario that happened to me last year whilst I had on 265/75 x 16 BFG KM2's on modulars. The tyre gets absolutely brilliant reviews from tyre sites and from owners yet on 4 separate occasions I nearly jack knived whilst towing a laden 3.5 ton cattle trailer at roundabouts in the wet!!! The overrun brakes were working as per the maintenance schedule ( I know because I set them up) This is a run I do quite regularly and have never had these issues with the Mickey Thompsons ATZ or MTZ or even with the GG!!! The fact that you need to shell out the best part of £800 for a set of new tyres, all you have is peoples recommendations on what they think of them in relation to their use. So after gaining 4 sets of tyres based on peoples recommendations I can whole heartedly say that 2 sets were a complete waste of money in what I required in a tyre so would like to avoid making the same mistake AGAIN!!! Thumbs Up

Tyres seem to be a bit like shoes. Reviews and opinions from other people are rather useless - you have to try them on yourself and walk around a bit to see if they're right for you. It always amazes me how expensive bad shoes can be...
Don't suppose any tyre suppliers let you "try before you buy"... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Dumfries at Easter time would be good Thumbs Up I am looking at arranging a Northerners Def2 meet in the Lake district at Troutbeck head, as the one last year I was proposing never happened due to work commitments on my part. Hopefully it will happen this year. Whistle Embarassed

Okay, let's keep in touch, it's a loose arrangement just now, but we've done the same for the past couple of years so no reason why it shouldn't go ahead? 2009 XS 110 Utility Stornaway Grey

Not been able to test mine yet as the day it started snowing my windscreen wipers packed up Sad so its been parked up at home (looking all pretty covered in snow) while I've been slumming it in the Range Rover (with TC and ABS and road tyres - oh and decent heating system!)
