I think as long as there greased then you got a good chance of them being ok anyway
I think there strong enough its just the lack of lube much the same as the drive flanges , flanges only seem to wear when there dry same as any normal car really if the splines are dry they wear , props do it , drive shafts do it on front wheel drive stuff, even steering shafts do it |

The stealers service foreman here was most reluctant to grease it when they replaced the transfer case. I pleaded and he agreed to but who knows if they did.

Reason given is that it wasn't a service item......
