Iā€™ve finally put the wheels on that I bought from Clemson a few months ago...all looks ok, just need a paint. But that is like buying new shoes with an old suit. Mrs H is blessing a change a colour and a soft top šŸ˜. I also mentioned the ā€˜needā€™ for two piece doors...

Funny how we put stuff in thinking great idea and then take it off a while later.... Mine had a treat today, a trip to the local lorry place for a steam clean underneath.

Followed by replacement window blocks!! I dug out an early set made to test the tooling set up and they fitted fine.

Right, the little donkey is still leaking a bit. Where is this coming from? Top right.

Also I spotted this pipe is somewhat severed, which I imagine happens during the steam cleaning. What is it? Bottom left of photo....

Leaks aside, she is driving very nicely.

I'm not 100% sure I've got my bearings right, looking at those from underneath..

But the corrugated pipe that's split (on the offside of the engine?) looks like it's the air intake pipe, the bit from the drain valve (flap!) up to the air cleaner.... Is that right?

This would allow more water spray or vapour up into the filter container. If it's set up OK, then this water will drain towards the front, and out of the drain valve there. But still not a great thing to have a split in that hose so low down.

On the oil drip - is that on the nearside? If so, then I think there are a number of places that it could be coming from - the sump seal/gasket; maybe from the crankcase breather to air intake hose connection? (right at the back n/s of the block); rocker cover gasket?; maybe even the crankshaft seal into the bellhousing. Seeing as you've cleaned it, I'd be tempted to see if I could trace it back further to see if you could find a clue to the source? Donald

Yes the corrugated pipe does go up to the air box. The drip I will investigate further tomorrow, very annoying after engine out etc. It will get sorted!

Funnily enough, I was under mine today and found I had a leak in the very same place...!

My first thought was a poor seal at the sump gasket, but shortly afterwards I found what I think is the real culprit. I'd had an engine out/rebuild done too, and the turbo drain hose wasn't sealing well where it joined the adapter to the block. Not a lot of oil, but enough.

Probably an unlikely/unusual one really, but I thought I'd mention it. Donald

Ah, thank you for that. Iā€™ll mention it to the garage. I had another look today from above and it is right at the back of the block. šŸ¤ž

šŸ’„ 350 miles in a day, no drama. Obviously the radio decided itā€™s one job was too much about 10 miles in, but apart from that it was all good. I had to stop after about 100 miles because my arse went to sleep- not quite enough space in the pick up to put the seat back...

Very happy, she pulled like a train. I also popped into Harwoods at Edenbridge and they have a 110 XS in Aintree Green coming in....Mrs H has said sheā€™s happy with a 110 as the daily driver so Iā€™m keen to see it....

Mot passed with no advisories!! Now showing 188k miles.
Iā€™ve been trying to buy an approved used Disco 4. 3 dealerships Iā€™ve been in dialogue with but when you ask basic questions it falls apart. I checked the MOT history on the first and it had advisories so I asked if they had been done. Discs had but front suspension arms hadnā€™t as ā€˜our 165 point check didnā€™t pick them upā€™ Absolute BS, they werenā€™t willing to pump Ā£800 in to the car and were waiting for a mug punter not to check. Second was a cracking looking car down in Taunton...with no service history in the first 2 years- not lost or missing, not done! Third was available on the site, worked out a deal only to be told it was sold, but the sales guy I was dealing with wasnā€™t aware.
How difficult is it to buy a well cared for clean D4 HSE and up that isnā€™t black or white? Banging Head

Headlights wonā€™t stay on full beam, I need to hold the stalk forward. Is it just a new stalk?
