2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
Heated seat problem
My drivers heated seat, back and base dont work.

Std lr wiring, factory fit.

When I got the vehicle there was no voltage to the seat base, neither elements heated. There was voltage to the back elements but it fudnt work and didnt make it from there to the base.

I fitted a new back heated element.

I now get voltage to the back element, as before, out of the back element and to the base element. But still neither work.

I assume there is voltage but no current.

Where is the earth for the standard lr wiring please for the heated seats.

Any suggestions welcome for finding a solution. Cheers

James

Try running a temporary power supply from the battery to the seat elements. This will establish whether they are working or not.
From there you can work back through the seat wiring and then the loom.

Cheers, spare seat that works off its wiring doesn't work on drivers side so pretty confident it's the wiring not the elements. Cheers

This is the 2.4 Puma heated seat diagram.

The (shared) ground point C0809 is on the engine bay side of the bulkhead, behind the coolant header tank, should be on the stud next to the one with the big multi-way ground header attached.

C1401/C1403 are the sockets mounted on the seat box.

Check the socket for continuity to a known good body/chassis ground on the black wire. Check for 12V on the blue/pink when the ignition is on and the switch is down.

resolved, the heated element in the seat base was broken and not allowing complete circuit. have now replaced the element. So an 11 Plate with two new elements needed (back and base) of drivers seat - they dont seem to have lasted long! Cheers
