Td5 not turning off
So have a few issues
Fuel pump stays on after ignition is turned off
Every so often ignition lights come on when ignition is turned off
Today it won’t turn off at all, just keeps running
So if I take all the wires off the ignition it still runs, until i earth the white wire
Anybody have any ideas or have come across this before?
It’s a defender 2005 td5

Ok don’t short any of those wires again while it may have worked, its a bad idea. If need be pull the fuel pump fuse to shut it off. As for the issue at hand... Perhaps your fuel pump relay is shot. Check that first.

Okay have you switched the FP relay with another just to be sure?

Other things to consider:

1- Has your oil level changed at all lately? Consider it may be a leaking injector(s) seal rubber and or copper washers.

2- Consider a Faulty ignition switch or blown ignition relay

3- Consider a possible short circuit in the ECU or wiring the harness to injectors.

4- Turbo-charger bearing and seals leaking/spraying engine oil into the intake causing oil burning instead of fuel (unlikely but Might be worth looking at at some point)

others hopefully will chime in with some suggestions.

My thoughts. The td5 has electronic controlled injectors so if the ecu doesn't sent the injectors to open anymore the td5 should stop.
If the ecu reacts on starting but not on stopping sounds strange to me. So I would first check the power from the ignition switch to the ecu cables. Roel

So have hopefully found the issue,n/s or passenger wing, the plug for the alarm sounder had badly corroded so have made good and at the moment no more problems
